Blues Old Stand
Blues Old Stand When Blues Old Stand (named for a small town in their native Alabama) formed in Montgomery, AL in the early 90’s, all the old ideas about “What Southern Rock IS and IS NOT,” got turned upside down. Their sometimes ruckus, sometimes intimate, but always soulful blend of deep funk, roots rock and screamin’ blues made them one of the Southern college circuit’s favorite live acts. For Blues Old Stand, the song and the groove still come first!

Blues Old Stand has expanded their sound over the years, keeping their music fresh, and avoiding the tired clichés of the “Blues Rock” and “Jam Band” genres. They strive to create 21st Century Funkin’ Blues, using everything from slide guitar and harmonicas, to samples and live ethnic percussion. The mission of Blues Old Stand is to keep it funky while staying true to their Southern Blues heritage. Their last CD, a five-song promotional EP, featured the underground hit single “Mule.” This track garnered immediate regional and national attention and earned the band a spot at CMJ’s 2001 Music Marathon in New York City. “Mule” also reached #5 on Garageband.com’s Funk/Soul music chart. In addition to their recent accolades, Blues Old Stand’s first full-length CD, released in 1995, sold over 5000 copies by word of mouth!

Blues Old Stand has toured with, or opened for, such national acts as Widespread Panic, Edwin McCain, MOE, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Everything, and Dickey Betts. They continue to perform regionally, and are beginning work on their 3rd CD with producer Johnny Sandlin.
