Just Dave Band is back, and better than ever. Led by singer, songwriter, harmonica player Dave "Just Dave" Bernal, the latest version of Just Dave Band promises to be the best yet. A year in the works, this band's sound encompasses a lifetime of struggle, lessons learned, and love lost, all in the course of one night.
Growing up in Grass Valley, a small town in Northern California, Dave entered every talent contest and sang in every choir he could. The trend continued when he transferred to college in Southern California, and has kept Dave in L.A. ever since. In 2006, he won the Cowboy Palace in Chatsworth's six-month long talent contest, and earlier this year, Dave played harmonica on Fox's American Idol, during country music week, backing up Top 10 contestant Michael Sarver on "Ain't Goin' Down ‘Til the Sun Comes Up."
The first thing that stands out about Just Dave is his booming baritone voice, immediately followed by his soul-filled harmonica. Dubbed "Hendrix on the Harp" a rare show highlight, is Dave's infamous "feedback solo" in which he harnesses feedback from his harmonica microphone and amplifier, producing a flood of psychedelic sounds.
But Dave hopes to get your attention with his songwriting, too. His current project, Just Dave Band, combines all he's learned in the blues, country, and alternative worlds with stories of heartbreak and the struggles of the American family. Dave is happy to call California's San Fernando Valley home, which serves as a backdrop for many of his songs, and are a tribute to the "Laurel Canyon sound" made famous by singers and songwriters of the 1960s.
Just Dave Band is here to make its mark, on stage, in the studio, and, with any luck, in the hearts and souls of all who come to listen.
