Disko Bay A trio of multi-instrumentalists, Disko Bay is a Ballard rock band whose songs signal a free exchange of ideas coming from several perspectives. Traeden comes from the techno/IDM world. Maxwell has an indie-rock background. Miss Vapor is a visual artist also steeped in electronic pop. The band's songs are composed over the Internet, often started by one member who then e-mails the mp3s to the others to add layers and new parts. Together, the band then perfect the songs in person. Although its songs are laboriously created on computers and hashed out over the Internet, Disko Bay is adamant about being a live band first and foremost. With Traeden on vocals, Maxwell on bass and guitar, and Wendy Vapor ..boards and synths, the live show reveals the brash immediacy of Disko Bay's aesthetic. From the sexy groove of "Content" to the dance-punk of "GIRLS" to the glitchy pop of "Real Estate," Disko Bay invites minds to the party and feet to the dance floor. The band's working method is uniquely contemporary, with an eye toward creating pop tunes of timeless appeal.
