New York City has a new band hitting the scene hard. The Night Shift
consists of front man Frank Lombardi on vocals and guitar, Chris Niemczyk on
lead guitar, Zo Zaragoza on Bass Guitar, and Larry Saul Lewis on Drums. All
the members of the band are originally from the Northeast and are currently
living in New York. The Night Shift's diversification within their music
makes it hard to pigeonhole them into one particular genre. Their songs can
range anywhere from reggae to blues, from country to funk, but with each
song, they put their own rock twist to really make their style very
original.
The Night Shift has been playing together as a full band since September of
2009, but members of the bands have been playing together since 2006.
Frank, Larry and Zo played together in numerous bands together as they
attended University of Miami in South Florida. After school, the trio,
slowly but surely, came back home to the New York area. After all the
members were back in town, Zo being the last to return, there were many
talks of coming back together to play in New York. In the time Larry and
Frank were back in town, they met many musicians who were qualified to
complete the band, but knew that guitarist Chris Niemczyk, or Chriffa, would
be the best final piece to fit the puzzle that is now known as The Night
Shift. The various styles that all the band members bring to the table are
all accredited to their diverse backgrounds and experience.
Although The Night Shift has been playing together for less then a year,
ironically the band chemistry is one of the things they truly pride
themselves on. Because of this chemistry, they have been able to make a
clear connection to their fan base and their audience during shows. The band
seems to genuinely be having a great time on stage, which really gets their
fans comfortable enough to let loose. At their gigs, don't be surprised to
see the crowd dancing and singing along to their songs. Their loyal fan
base has been most recently referred to as 'Shiftheads'.
The name 'The Night Shift' was based on the fact that most of the members in
the band have their own day jobs. Whether they're working for a famous New
York publication, a financial services corporation, or they're truly a full
time musician, the band members all have at least this one thing in common:
their main objective in The Night Shift is to have a great time, share their
original music, and above all things, make sure that their fans are happy.
Whether they've listened to The Night Shift at home, in their cars, on the
way to work, or have seen them play live, Shiftheads can all agree on one
thing. The Night Shift is not your every day band.
