Originally hailing from Richmond, Virginia, PuddleDuck is one of the most fun bands to ever come out of the Virginia music scene. For more than 15 years PuddleDuck has played great music for people who just want have a good ol' time. PuddleDuck's success can be attributed to its live performances.
Along the way we had the honor of sharing the stage with some truly amazing bands like the Jerry Garcia Band, the Marshall Tucker Band, Little Feat, Blue Oyster Cult, the Disco Biscuits, Agents of Good Roots, the Pat McGee Band, Carbon Leaf, Everything, Gibb Droll and a slew of other amazing regional and national acts. No matter who we were with or where we were playing, PuddleDuck consistently converted first-time listeners into loyal fans.
After releasing 2 full length albums and playing over 500 shows, PuddleDuck eventually disbanded to pursue other opportunities, but in February 2009 they reunited, after nine years, to play what turned out to be an amazing night for both the band and their long-time fans. The reunion rekindled the band's passion to play music together, but this time with a fresh perspective. We don't give a shit about anything other than playing music and having a good time doing it.
PuddleDuck's sound melds several wholly different stylistic approaches to form a unique blend of what we call Funkin' Southern Rock. Lead singer Dave "Gomer" Hedeman brings folk/country rock influences and uncommonly rich vocals to the band, while Darren Moxin lends intense and exciting lead electric guitar with high-powered blues and jazz influences. Keyboardist Jeff Gothelf skillfully weaves his tasteful sounds in and out of the music, providing each song with its own unique feeling. Guitarist and vocalist Bobby Sutton complements both Hedeman's vocals and Moxin's lead guitar with his own style of slow hand blues guitar. Jason Sell's precise and versatile percussion and Dave "Dickie" Watkinson's funky bass lines capture the essence of the grooves and hold everything together.
