From the dark underbelly of the Olympia music scene four men of incredulous backgrounds met at a birthday party to celebrate and play music. The next day BoozeGrass convened for the first time as founders Tripp Talley and Neal Marks brainstormed song ideas for the new project. One week later, BoozeGrass debuted as a quartet at their first show, kicking off a string of summer shows that put the band on the map in Olympia's music scene. The current quintet has established a sound deeply rooted in the string band and bluegrass tradition; by pushing the boundaries of acoustic instrumentation with progressive songwriting and passionate performances, BoozeGrass has quickly become one of the Pacific Northwest's premier string bands.
BoozeGrass performs a genre-crossing blend of music, with songs and sounds ranging from traditional bluegrass and old-tyme tunes to original folk and pop songs. The members of BoozeGrass include Neal Marks on guitar, Tripp Talley on mandolin, Harris Bernstein on the fiddle, Ryan Moriarty playing banjo and Tomothy Steude on the bass. BoozeGrass has been performing extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest and is currently booking for a winter West tour. The band is working on a live compilation CD and their first full-length studio album release is set for mid-December.
