The League of Proper Musicians
The League of Proper Musicians Chris Hatton phoned Anthony Place from Texas and said "If I move back to Cleveland, do you want to start a new band?" "Yeah," said Place. And so, The League of Proper Musicians was formed in Cleveland, OH in the brutal winter of 2007. Their original drummer was having scheduling issues and Place suggested bringing in drummer, DJ and all around renaissance man, Mr. Mike Reyes to fill in when needed. However, after a few rehearsals, the chemistry was undeniable. Reyes became the full time drummer. After playing with them a while, he then suggested having Jason Seich come out and play some percussion, and he did. The percussion was good. With the lineup now solidified, The League began playing shows around the Cleveland/Akron/Canton areas. By December of 2007, they had written enough material to record their first album. Mini Sharks was finally completed in May of 2008. A video for the song "The Standbye" was made to help promote the album. With Mini Sharks finished, Place and Hatton decided to re-release an album they had recorded in 2005. The Album was originally titled, The Akron Potato Guns: The Nearly Eighteen Feet of Man Album. Since The League was already playing songs from this album, it seemed like the obvious thing to do. It was re-titled, simply, The League of Proper Musicians and also released in 2008. Opting to build their fan base from the middle and then branch out, The League continues to play shows in Cleveland, as well as Columbus, Athens, Marietta, Cincinnati, and Youngstown. By late year 2008, The League had penned enough new material for another album. The new material was more focused and a defining sound was beginning to emerge. In October, The League went back into the studio and began recording their next album. This album is untitled and set to be finished in the summer of 09'.
