Newton Crosby may be a newcomer to the scene but they are quickly leaving an impression on those who have seen them play. Combining influences from electronica, funk and jazz, this quintet from New Jersey has been taking on the Northeast jamband scene from day one and continues to increase their energy with each show. To date, Newton Crosby has shared the stage with moe., Umphrey's McGee, Conspirator, Jen Hartswick and The Heavy Pets. They plan on adding to their resume.
Pooled together from various bands in the NY / NJ area, Newton Crosby is assembled with five musicians who pride themselves on giving everything they have with every show and make it a point to keep the music at a high energy and the people dancing throughout the entire show. The rhythm section of Alonzo Sisco on drums and Paul “Hoagie” Apicella on bass gel together in perfect unison creating the perfect gateway for improvisation. Stephen “Squigs” Minn and Chris Cartelli combine triple duty of guitars, keys and vocals, playing off of each others lead and provide the groundwork for the bands musical exploration. In 2011, the band reconnected with original keyboardist Eric 'Eroc' Mitchell, who brings his great piano stylings and unique brand of synth sounds to the table. With climactic peaking jams backed by breakbeats and thumping basslines, the band is sure to get the crowd and dance party goin.
