Polyphonic Pomegranate is a collection of some of Boise's most talented musicians. We could be classified as Jazz infused Funk Rock, and we play mostly original music. We provide a high energy electric set that gives the entire crowd restless leg syndrome, and we also provide a groovier jazz set for quieter venues. We are available to play gigs around Idaho and beyond.
Our influences begin with: Medeski Martin and Wood, Tin Hat Trio, The Motet, St. Germain, Parliament Funkadelic, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Rush, Galactic, the Doors, the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Diana Krall, Herbie Hancock, Ray Charles, Charles Brown, Miles Davis, John Scofield, Coltrane, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Bill Evans, Phish, Radiohead, Alicia Keys, Fiona Apple, Jamiroquai, Earth Wind and Fire, Commodores, The Meters, Lettuce, Primus, and ALL of the wonderful musicians we've have played with. The earth, the sky, and a black dog named Panther.
We're able to play a number of genres very well, and dance from one to the other and then beyond seamlessly. We can do dirty rock a la Zeppelin, smooth jazz a la Miles, or take flight with funky acid jazz like Medeski, Martin, and Wood doing James Brown. This incarnation formed in 2008 when members of several other Boise projects decided it was time to bring something fresh, unexpected, and thickly funky to Idaho. Our presence at home has been felt and now we're bringing our kind of funk around the west. We love playing all kinds and sizes of venues, and pride ourselves on our ability and taste to cater to any event. Be it coffeeshop, bar, restaurant, or club we bring a vitality that seems to keep people guessing and grooving. We're looking to book clubs, universities, coffeeshops, brewpubs, festivals, radio slots, and private events.
