Charlie Brick is Higher Nebulae…NYC’s newest DJ specializing in several genres from Progressive House and Trance to the brave new world that is Dubstep, with brush-strokes of Old School and Hip-Hop thrown in for good measure.
With over 15 years of musical background, he has journeyed from the world of classical and jazz trumpet, to performing with the Hoboken-based cover band, Daddy NoBux where he served as jack of all trades on rhythm guitar, harmonica, backing vocals, and of course, his trusty horn.
Always fascinated by all things Electronica, Charlie was appreciating the sounds of Depeche Mode and Radiohead while the main stream meandered from Heavy Metal to Grunge. After discovering the Jam and Livetronica scene two years ago, he started building a set of tools, starting with Sony Sound Forge and other simple track editors, but quickly graduated to Ableton Live after seeing his first STS9 show in 2006. Later, after experiencing the radical stylings of greats such as Bassnectar, Shpongle, Dub War NYC, Ott and Orchard Lounge, he put together a simple rig with a few surprises to start marrying beats and effects to create high energy sets full of twists, turns, and plenty of Untz!
