Andy Pratt
Andy Pratt Andy Pratt is a singer, songwriter, music producer and live music performer who was born in Boston to one of the wealthiest and most educated families in America. His great-grandfather Charles Pratt was business partners with John D. Rockefeller, owners of the Standard Oil Company. Charles was an advocate of higher education and the founder of Pratt Institute in New York among other things.

Andy attended Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, Masshusetts where his father, Edwin H. Baker Pratt, a World War II Navy Veteran, was the headmaster of this school for 20 years. Andy attended Harvard University and in his early days played music all around Boston and Harvard Square in Cambridge with a band named "Butter". They played "Cream" covers. In 1968 Andy received a degree in English Literature from Harvard University. After graduation he moved to New York where he released his debut album, "Records Are Like Life" in 1969. It was re-released by Polydor Records in 1971.

In 1973 Andy Pratt was signed as a Rock Recording Artist with Columbia Records by the famous music mogil Clive Davis.

Together they produced the self-titled album "Andy Pratt" which exploded onto the music scene with the Hit Song "Avenging Annie". It's about Annie Oakley and Pretty Boy Floyd the Outlaw which came about while Andy was listening to Woody Guthrie's "Ballad of Pretty Boy Floyd." Roger Daltrey, the lead singer for The Who, liked "Avenging Annie" so much that he recorded it on four of his solo albums, including his 1977 album "One Of The Boys" and again in 1981 on the "Best of Roger Daltrey." The song can also be heard on Todd Haynes' 1998 film, "Velvet Goldmine". David Cassidy covered Andy's song "All I Want Is You" on his "The Best of David Cassidy" album.

During the 1970’s Andy Pratt and his band toured the United States and Canada twice riding the wave of Rock Stardom. They were heard all over the FM radio dial, appeared on TV shows, were given rave reviews in many publications, including Rolling Stone magazine, and performed to packed houses and as many as 20,000 people in concerts.

In 1978 he was released from his Columbia Record contract and he moved to Europe where he met and married Frederika, a Dutch Journalist. They lived in Holland and Belgium where Andy became activist in religion and a social worker helping people in need. He began writing and recording Christian Pop music touring Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Russia, Israel, and more. During this period he released "Motives" (1979).

Andy Pratt was much sought after by music industry giants like Clive Davis, Nat Weiss, Ahmet Ertegun and Arif Mardin (the record producer of Aretha Franklin, The Bee Gees, Nora Jones, Boy George, and many others).

Andy Pratt’s backup band are the top musicians, the heavy hitters, from the who’s who of music in the world. The same studio quality musicians who backed up artist such as Eric Clapton, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, Van Morrison , Meatloaf, Andy Gibb, James Taylor, Judy Collins, Alice Cooper, Rod Stewart, Chick Corea, Al DiMeola, Johnny Rivers, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt and Natalie Cole and the list goes on and on....

Andy Pratt’s music has been heard all over the FM radio dial, was given rave reviews in newspapers and magazines, including Rolling Stone Magazine, and cheered on by thousands of fans at his concerts.
