The ShakeShifters is a hybrid music band and multi-media project that combines elements of live performance with audio, video, and lighting effects to feature positive and uplifting content, with a general focus on progressive issues. All forms of creative expression are utilized to explore how new scientific and artistic discoveries reflect ancient concepts, such as “In the beginning there was the Word,” or AUM as the primal cosmic sound, echoed in modern quantum mechanics. The aim is an uplifting, illuminating, and ultimately motivating experience for the performers and the audience.
The selected content includes specially chosen covers from the Blues, Rock, and Soul genres, as well as originals in the same vein. Interspersed with the music elements are spoken word and comic pieces as well as video clips and psychedelic style lighting and visual effects. All of the content is reflective of the general theme yet abstract and emotive rather than preachy. The music is percussion driven rather than jam-band oriented, although there are improvisational elements.
