Will Scarlett
Will Scarlett Will first hit the scene in Berkeley, California straight out of high school in summer 1966 with his first band, “The Cleanliness is next to Godliness Skiffle Band” becoming regulars at the Jabberwock. It was places like this and The Lion's Share, also in Berkeley, Will met blues guitar virtuoso Steve Mann; a musical partnership that began in 1967 and that continues today.

In spring of 1968 at 19 years old, Will headed out on tour with one of the original bluesmen, Brownie McGhee. It was on this six-week tour of Canada with Brownie that Will learned the technique of playing chromatically on a 10-hole harmonica.

Back in the Bay area, Steve Mann introduced Will to one of his friends, Jorma Kaukonen, who later asked him to play with Hot Tuna.

Along the way Will has been there for many musical endeavors; playing with Old & in the Way at Keystone, the Grateful Dead at the Fillmore East, LaVonna Johnson, Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat Zydeco, and many others.

Will has been part of Hobo Jungle's music since the beginning, and don't be surprised if you find “Berkeley's Own” on stage with any number of diverse musicians several times a week, even at two different locations in the same day…still re-inventing the sound of the harmonica.
