The Kickback
The Kickback "No area act has more venom or vigor." -Robert Morast of the Argus Leader

Comprised of brothers Billy Yost (vocals/guitar) and Danny Yost (drums), Cody Raterman (guitar) and Zachariah Verdorn (bass/harmonies), The Kickback's music has been likened to the sounds of Kings of Leon, The Strokes, and The Clash. Though attending college at present (Danny having just graduated from the University of South Dakota), the group will be touring full-time following Billy's graduation in the fall of 08'. In the mean time, they have been gathering fierce momentum, trying out their sounds in venues across the Midwest and Western coast. In June, The Kickback will release a six-song EP entitled, A New History.

In their short history, the boys have opened for such diverse acts as Fishbone, Shiny Toy Guns, mewithoutYou, and Thrice. Following a string of dates with Fishbone, bassist Norwood Fisher offered to possibly release the group's upcoming EP on his NS5 record label. After tracking the EP at ARC Studios in Omaha (home to records from Bright Eyes, Cursive, and Rilo Kiley), the band will be touring nationally for 50 dates in 50 days during the summer months, before returning home for a final semester of college for the strings section.

The group's songs (ranging from a lurid fascination with the Marquis de Sade to the Irish gang wars of the early American century to the mojo bag around Billy's neck) reflect the New Ugly and the weirdest of times for any band to be making a go of it. But these boys will be pushing until the cows come home, and hailing from South Dakota, they know cows.
