Space rock or psychedelic trance rock - whatever you want to call it, Silver Machine is a new band out of Asheville, NC which mixes tight funky grooves with wild experimentation. Featuring a Theremin (a retro-futuristic electronic instrument from the 1920's), Silver Machine has a spooky, far-out sound alot like the old Science Fiction and Horror film soundtracks from the past. The band has a sound all of its own, while influenced by classic bands like Pink Floyd, and newer bands like Critters Buggin' and Ozric Tentacles.
"As a band, we're always discussing the idea of elevating ourselves and our listeners or trying to take our music to a strange place where we haven't been before... keeping our music open to re-invention and open interpretation... we try to reach a different level of consciousness through music..."
Silver Machine is gaining momentum in Asheville and around the region, appearing in clubs throughout NC, SC, TN, and VA, and performing shows with Native Sway, The Malah, Boombox, Sci Fi, Zoogma & Agobi Project, and return appearances at festivals such as the Telepathic Productions Spring Fling, Trinumeral, Dexfest & the TOUCH Samadhi fall Equinox. The band recently finds themselves playing the MoDaddy's residency in Asheville and a Make-a-Wish Foundation charity event in August 2010. Silver Machine is performing in festivals, clubs, and parties where people are ready for something out-of-the-ordinary.
Silver Machine's self-titled debut release is available on CDBaby, at shows and on I-Tunes. 'Astro-Boogie' and 'Bellydancer' have been on rotation lately on Laura Blackleys' WNCW 88.7FM program 'Local Color' and on 98.1FM The River's Homegrown show after just returning as the in-studio feature w/ Bad Ash (105.9FM The Mountain).
