Whitey Johnson Whitey Johnson is a recently discovered blues artist from Texas, now making his home in Tennessee. There are many versions of Whitey's story, as he has made his living making music for well over thirty years, yet has remained relatively unknown, having only recently recorded his debut album. One known fact is that his alternate persona, known as Gary Nicholson has written songs that have been recorded by blues and rock legends including; BB King, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, James Cotton, Delbert McClinton, Gatemouth Brown, The Blues Brothers and more and has also produced two Grammy winning records for Delbert McClinton in the "Best Contemporary Blues" category. Whitey calls his music "feel better blues" with songs including "Use the Blues to Make You Feel Better" and "Upside of Lonely". His song "Worry Be Gone" co-written with Guy Clark and Lee Roy Parnell was recently recorded as a duet by Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney
