Originally from Flagstaff, AZ., brothers gow is currently based out of San Diego, CA. Borrowing from a massive cache of influences, this funk-rock-improv quintet relies on thoughtful lyrics, deep grooves, and improvisational tact that keeps each show fresh and unique. Brothers Gow is: Alex Gow Bastine (Keys, vox), Carson Church (Bass), Kyle Merrill (Guitar, vox, trumpet), Ethan Wade (Guitar, vox), and Nathan Walsh-Haines (drums, vox). Seasoned and road ready, Brothers Gow have traversed the greater western states since 2007, logging almost 100,000 miles on the van, 500+ shows, and are showing no signs of slowing down.
The band claims an eclectic fusion of rock, funk, jazz, and reggae as the broad genres they play within. Combine the bands energetic stage presence with powerful vocal harmonies, complex arrangements, ripping guitar solos and the bands awe inspiring light show, and you get the recipe for a truly memorable concert experience.
With the release of their 4th studio album, “Reflections”, the sound of Brothers Gow is taking new shape. The title track comes out swinging between arena rock and uptempo dance grooves, with soaring vocal harmonies. From there brace yourself for an emotional ride through tunes like “Shadow” and “Brittle Bones”, landing on fan favorite instrumental “Hydration Nation”. The album was recorded live and mixed and mastered by San Diego veteran Steve Langdon from Langdon Studios.
Going into the second half of 2014, the band is set up for a regional Album release tour in October and November. Returning to old stomping grounds and some new turf is what the boys are all about – pushing the limits of tour and music and the pusuit of their goals. The Brothers Gow Foundation for Music Education is up and running. After the first charitable concert enough monies were raised to put a stringed instrument into all 18 classrooms at OB Elementary, and that is just the beginning!
