Modern Day Savage
Modern Day Savage It once was said, “If you want to play on a big stage, play big music.” And then there was Modern Day Savage. Front man and multi-instrumentalist George Holdcroft leads this Chicago-based rock machine. Having studied composition, piano, and bassoon at Butler University, Holdcroft has a unique canvas upon which he crafts his epic rocksterpieces. On the streets of Madison in 2004, Holdcroft founded Modern Day Savage with UW performance major Tom Hoban, a lightning-charged guitar phenom. The backbone of this formidable quartet is made up of the brilliant bassist Jimmy DiLorenzo (NASA) and the versatile Tasmanian Devil, Stefan Czestochowski (Master of Jazz Studies, DePaul, 2007), on drums. The Onion likens Modern Day Savage’s music to the unpredictable webs of Mike Patton (particularly Mr. Bungle). Digital Lizard describes their live shows as “a smorgasbord of awesomeness,” comparing them to bands such as Queen and Tenacious D. Their music is described by Muzzleofbees.com as “bombastic glammy rock, with a humourous twist.” Their energetic and engaging live shows seem to attract everyone, from the avid music listener to the casual fan. Their rock prowess may be only eclipsed by their intimidating good looks. Modern Day Savage is worth your money.
