Sleeping Giant & the Word of the Day
Sleeping Giant & the Word of the Day A groove you can feel in your soul - passionate, inspired vocals - cacophonic, intricate and intense guitar work - lyrics that are socially and politically aware - these phrases have all been used to describe the reggae inspired rock of Rochester, NY based 4 piece Sleeping Giant.

The current incarnation of Sleeping Giant was formed in the winter of 2004 when lead singer and primary songwriter Jacob Fraser recruited drummer Dylan Hoyt and bass player Aaron Williams to play a series of gigs he had lined up at a venue that many would call iconic on the Rochester music scene, the Penny Arcade. Soon thereafter, Steve Dushenko joined the fold on lead guitar to round out the crew. Since then, the band has played in front of crowds throughout the Northeast, and a steady stream of new fans are added daily to a loyal and supportive base.

The SG sound is inspired and influenced by a wide variety of music, including Sublime, 311, Rage Against the Machine, Pavement, Bob Marley, The Police, The Beatles, U2, John Browns Body, Sonic Youth, The Grateful Dead, Led Zepplin, and many others. Something you have to hear, or, rather, bear witness to, in order to believe.
