Call it facilitating fun, call it rambunctious rambling converted into mind melting melodies, call it Naughty Northwest Rock, we call it Jamalia.
Jamalia (Jam-Ale-Lee-ahh): Prefix: Jam- to infuse numerous styles and influences into various arrangements to create live improvisational music. Suffix: Malia- to the extreme.
A term not found in many medical manuals (or any for that matter) but once you got it, you never forget the name. Jamalia is a 7-piece team of instigators, mad scientists, rockers, swingers and even a wizard (we will let you determine who that is) who blend soul, wit and multi-layered harmonies into a cocktail of authentic original grooves and smear them like jelly over the Willamette Valley. Their first EP "Copy and Distribute Widely" is getting exceptional reviews and a new album is soon to follow. In 2009 they were named "Best Local Band" by readers of the Statesman Journal (Salem) and were also a top 10 finalist in Eugene Weekly's "Next Big Thing" competition with their song "Been Here Before". Whether you like to wiggle in your chair or stomp your feet while you bounce to the bassline, this band carefully constructs unique shows every night to move their audience. Like "a shot of tequila with salt and lime," Jamalia makes any night a good night to clear your head.
