Boondock Billies
Boondock Billies The Boondock Billies are an authentic Southern Illinois old time hillbilly band. These Boondock Billies are from the coal mining wilderness area of Southern Illinois, a short distance from the Mississippi river as the crow flies. All three were greatly influenced by their rural upbringing and old time music. These boys here got that Hillbilly Fever. The Boondock Billies play original songs in the classic style of old time country and bluegrass, and have been described as Americana. BdB is Grant Harp on acoustic guitar, harmonica and vocals, Wade "Tater" Ralls on upright bass and vocals, and Bobby Taylor on banjo, dobro and vocals. Wade plays a 1947 Kay bass that evokes a great old tone. Grant plays a 1920's guitar on the old time numbers and sings with passion that brings life to the traditional songs.The band has been entertaining audiences in Southern Illinois for over three years and have also played in Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, and North Carolina. The band is currently working on the debut CD which will be released in Spring 2011.
