Useful Jenkins was ultimately created from friends jamming around various campfires across southern MN, and all the good vibes from our midwest festival communities.
Pat and Lucas had been playing guitar together off and on since 2004, rocking open mics and campfires. In 2006, Josh came along bringing some tasty percussion with a djembe. It wasn't long before he was doing open mics with the duo and they had written their first few songs. In the fall of 2006, Travis snuck in through the backdoor and surprised the hell out of everybody with some new rythms and more tribal percussion.
We had stumbled upon a very unique rythmic/grassy sound, and wanted to keep it rolling. In the fall of 2007, Ryan picked up the accoustic bass guitar and became the latest addition. The five have been 'Useful' now for just over a year. They finished recording their first album "Fast Eddie" in late October at Pachyderm Studios.
Useful Jenkins a very fun loving high energy show, with a growing following in Southern MN. Perfect for outdoor festival stages, they also sound great in bars and wherever there is a campfire.
