In 2001, Dakota Jay first picked up his father's guitar learning as many songs as possible. Deeply engrossed in Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Richie Havens, The Counting Crows as well as others, Dakota began to write songs without rest.
As Dakota Jay first started playing small local shows in the Doylestown area, heartache and politics found their way into his music with troublesome relationships and the beginning of the Iraq War in 2003. Suffering two very hard breakups and seeing the death count of Americans and Iraqis rising in the Middle East contributed greatly to Dakota Jay's music.
In 2006, Dakota Jay began working with producer David Ivory and has recently finished a two song EP with plans to record more in the near future.
