Pamela Parker
Pamela Parker San Francisco’s freshest soul sister, Pamela Parker, is gearing up for her solo acoustic record release “Beautiful Day” due out in May 2008. Serving up a blend of juicy, bluesy, soulful, psychedelic music, Pamela deeply touches her audience with songs about life, love, and creating positive changes in the world. “She mesmerizes people with her powerful voice and skillful hands, both on guitar and piano,” Kim Manning of George Clinton & the P-Funk Allstars.

Pamela enchants her audience through her unique combination of music and lyrics which stems from a wide range of influences such as Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Erykah Badu, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, Esthero, and Michael Franti & Spearhead. According to One Love Lifestyles Magazine, she “…keeps you in the spot between bliss and reality.” Parker writes all of her songs, and is not only an acoustic singer/songwriter.

She’s an electric guitar rocking groovy soul sister who gives it to the world raw and uncut.

Pamela began touring about 8 years ago as front woman of East coast sensation Roots A’Risin’, while raising a daughter and going to school full-time for music production, opera, and jazz & classical piano & guitar. Roots A’ Risin had the pleasure of being billed with some great acts such as Dark Star Orchestra, Rusted Root, Keller Williams, The David Grisman Quintet, The Codetalkers, Citizen Cope, Perpetual Groove, Donna Jean & The Zen Tricksters, Melvin Seals (JBG), Umphrey’s McGee, Greyboy Allstars, Zero, Peter Rowan & Tony Rice, New Mastersounds, New Riders of the Purple Sage, David Gans, The Recipe, The Davisson Brothers, Boom Box, Wookie Foot and so many more.

In 2007, Pamela decided to relocate to San Francisco and embark on her solo career. One of her first experiences in San Francisco was an impromptu 2-night jam with Trevor Garrod of Tea Leaf Green. The next night, she found herself singing with a slammin’ funk jam band the Smokedaddies, while Trevor gave a guest appearance on keys. Pamela has also been seen around town singing with bands like The Ritual, Blane Lyon and The Real, Rain Maker, Izabella, and Haugen & Sugar. Five months after her arrival in the city, Pamela played at the legendary Fillmore opening and playing set break for Dark Star Orchestra two nights in a row to a sold out crowd. Ready for anything that comes her way, Pamela performs solo and with her band she put together in San Francisco. She’s opened shows for amazing artists such as Dark Star Orchestra, The Coup, Blue Turtle Seduction, Izabella, Free Peoples, Kim Manning of the P-Funk Allstars, and Mojow and the Vibration Army, to name a few. She has also been known to sit in with many bands on occasion and could surprise you at any time as a special guest around the Bay Area and beyond.

Still touring with Roots A’Risin’, she carries on the music and vision of RAR by touching people individually with lyrics everyone can relate to and music everyone can shake their booty to.

Pamela has also been working for many years as an engineer and producer, producing other people’s records as well as her own. She’s recorded and produced records for independent artists such as Jacob Williamson, Dar Stellabotta, and she’s produced, recorded and released two records with Roots A’Risin’ so far. She currently is working out of one of San Francisco’s top studios, Hyde Street Stutios. Pamela is moments away from finishing her fan-requested solo acoustic album “Beautiful Day” and is diligently working on organizing the next full-production record “Look No Further.” She’s had the pleasure to work with many great people in the studio including, but not limited to: Dave Shul (from Michael Franti & Spearhead), Maestro Curtis (vocals & asst. eng. on song for Clive Davis), Jay Bowman (Michael Franti & Spearhead), Nate Oberman (vocals on song for Snoop Dogg), Kim Manning, Izabella, Norwood Fisher (Fishbone, Trulio Disgracious) and Bobby Lee Rodgers (The Codetalkers) to name a few. Dave Shul, Bobby Lee Rodgers, and Norwood Fisher are among the crew on the acoustic record “Beautiful Day.”

With such an amazing first year in the San Francisco music scene, there is no telling where we’ll see Pamela Parker next. As Pamela prepares to tour in support of her new release coming out in May, she is also working on “The Pam Show” which will feature sketch comedy, conscious interviews, and a variety of entertainment. Recently, Pam put the final touches on a music video for the song “Piece of the Whole” (which you can see on www.ThePamShow.com). She will also be featured on the Relix Magazine Compilation CD for the June/July issue with her song “Mary Jane Blues” from her acoustic record “Beautiful Day”. Be sure to check up regularly for the next time you can see this amazing up and coming artist.
