The Pack – Young L, Lil Uno, Stunna and Lil B - are four teens from the Bay Area of California who combine all different musical influences to create what they call Based Music. The hit song “Vans”, an ode to the legendary skateboard sneaker, instantly became a cult classic among the Myspace and Youtube crowd amassing millions of plays and eventually caught the ears of some music industry heavy hitters. Legendary rapper Too Short heard the group and brought them to the attention of Jive Records where they quickly landed a deal.
Shortly after signing to Jive, the group released a limited edition EP called “Skateboarders 2 Scrapers” to keep the buzz going while they prepare a full-length. The EP was so well received that a second single emerged organically. MTV added “I’m Shinin” to it’s Elite 8 based solely on the fact that The Pack was one of the most popular groups on it’s website. So popular in fact, that their episode of “You Hear It First” was the most viewed/downloaded show in MTV.com history. The low-budget video that was originally shot only for the internet quickly became the 1 video on MTV2 for several weeks.
The boys’ infectious personalities, sheer talent and youthful charisma have earned them much acclaim in a very short time. Publications like Spin, Blender, XXL, Vibe and Thrasher have all done features on them - all without an actual album in stores. Rolling Stone even proclaimed their song “Vans” as the 5 song of the year.
The Pack are currently finishing their debut album, which is slated to drop in late summer. In house production whiz – Young L – will continue to deliver the groups signature sound on most of the tracks. The effort will also feature production from select outside producers like Mr Collipark (Ying Yang Twins, Pitbull) and DJ Speedy (Young Jeezy). If the present buzz is any indication of things to come, the sky is the limit for these 4 Bay Area teenagers.
Boys and Girls, meet hip-hop’s next big act: THE PACK.
