Gov't Majik
Gov't Majik Welcome to the New Orleans Afro-Tech Institute of Technology.

A typical night of Gov't Majik's curriculum includes courses in phat beats, deep pockets, and mind melting harmonies that drives its students into a dancing frenzy. As cerebral is it is stirring and as earthy as it is sublime, the sounds of Gov't Majik will energize your soul and set your sprit free.

The band traces its roots back to the late night bustle of the New Orleans Frenchman Street music scene. A local favorite around the area the band was just finding its feet when Katrina scattered the band and its musicians to all ends of the earth. It had seemed that they had lost their Majik.

Upon returning to the Crescent City, founding member Bru Bruser teamed up with fellow New Orleans Musician David Hyman, and soon the Majik was back. Filling up the lineup the band recruited Brazilian Keyboardist Eduardo Tozzatto and later drummer Kyle Sharamitaro.

Now on a mission to educate the masses in the school of Afro-Tech, Gov't Majik: The Afro – Tech Institute of Technology has become a collective of artists committed to making progressive, expressive afro-beat dance music, powerful melodies, and being a positive force in rebuilding and redefining of New Orleans.

Gov't Majik is determined to positively affect the world through music, strive to be a force for change, and a voice of resistance for New Orleans. What's their message for the world? Hope.

Their new record Party Favors dropped January 9, 2010 and the party's just starting!
