Recording artist Jann Arden continues to be one of Canadas most talented song-writers and performers. This acclaimed girl from the prairies can bring audiences to tears through her intimate, poignant songs only to have them rolling in the aisles moments later with her raw humour. With eight CDs, 15 top ten singles, a substantial collection of industry related awards and honours, acting, writing and charity work (including a second trip to Africa with World Vision), Arden is rarely bored.
In April 2005, Arden released her eighth album, the self-titled Jann Arden, which contains the chart scorching single, Where No One Knows Me. This single entered the top 10 on radio charts faster than any of her other singles to date and pushed the album to Gold status within the first week of release. Arden and her trusted collaborator, Russell Broom, confess that this album began as an anonymous work to escape from the reputation of writing heavy, emotion-filled songs. Though much of this new album sounds up-tempo, Ardens always enlightening lyrical interpretations lurk just beneath that veneer.
In 2005, Arden completed a record-breaking nine-week tour. She began in Australia, opening for Canadian crooner, Michael Buble. Upon returning to Canada, she headlined her own tour, with stops in major cities across the country from Victoria to Halifax. The growing reputation and success of Ardens live performances resulted in five consecutive shows at the famed Massey Hall in Toronto.
This year Jann was honored as an Inductee onto Canada's Walk of Fame. while she continued opening for Michael Buble in Europe and the USA.
Arden is also well known for her comedic talents, abilities as a speaker and as a bestselling author. In the Fall of 2004, Arden celebrated the publication of her second book a collection from her popular on-line journals. ill tell you one damn thing, and thats all i know! continued where her bestselling first publication, if I knew, dont you think Id tell you? left off (much to Ardens surprise, her first book climbed to ..3 on Canadas Globe and Mail Non-fiction Bestseller list). Ardens ability to candidly discuss topics ranging from bra size to spirituality has solidified her reputation of being unpredictably entertaining, which explains the sell-out crowds at the notable Unique Lives & Experiences lecture series.
Arden is no stranger to theatre, having performed in Eve Enslers Broadway hit, The Vagina Monologues on stages across Canada. She also returned to the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal to host An Evening at Eves Tavern. Arden has been featured on the screen, large and small. She filmed Jann Takes Manhattan (a documentary-style network television special filmed while performing in New York City), was featured in the Gemini nominated episode of the sitcom Big Sound, and was cast in the feature movie White Lies.
