Your average club-goer may not know what to call the hybrid house being made by Jesse Rose, but there's no mistaking its potent mix of mind-numbingly crisp techno/house beats, gritty sample riddled melodies and bassbin-blowing subsonics or its effectiveness on a dancefloor' - xlr8r. In the last few years Jesse Rose has become renowned as one of the forward thinking producers. Learning his trade as a dj with regular slots at Fabric in London and visits over the pond, Jesse now holds his residency at Berlin's Panorama bar. To date Jesse has recorded for the likes of Classic, Get Physical, JBO, Simple, his own Made to Play and Front Room imprints and is currently signed to Dave Taylor's Dubsided label. Not bad for a man that just turned twenty-eight. Two thousand and six saw Jesse complete over a dozen remixes including Layo & Bushwacka!, Soho Dolls, 2020 SoundSystem, Radio Slave, Recloose, Tim Deluxe, Krafty Kuts, Phil Weeks, Solid Groove and Claude VonStroke. All this alongside the release of his highly respected collaborations album 'More Than One' on Front Room and on the eve of his first solo album release on Dubsided and his mix compilation Body Language 3 on Get Physical, it's a busy time for Mr. Rose.
Jesse has been playing records for over fourteen years, raised on an upbringing of Motown Soul, Jazz and Eighties Funk in London's Ladbroke Grove area. At the beginning of the nineties aged fourteen Jesse moved to Bristol and started hanging out with old friend Jamie Anderson. A few years on and the duo soon started djing and began throwing club nights, homing in on their particular sound of Chicago house mixed with early Detroit techno. By the mid nineties Jesse had already earned a reputation for solid sets across the four/four spectrum and it was around this time that those influences and ideas were finally cemented and Jesse began producing.
By ninety-seven Jesse was ready to make the move back to his hometown and started regularly playing around the capital. Jesse soon recorded his first mix compilation for the Subversive label under the Deeper Sound Of Bristol moniker and released his first single on Artform. The mix compilation received critical acclaim from all sides of the dance music community, picking up on the unique way Jesse presented his sound.
In two thousand Jesse started working on his biggest project to date, alongside Chris Belsey the Front Room Recordings label was born. The label received loyal support from the off with an artist roster that boasts the likes of Solid Groove, Henrik Schwarz, Chris Duckenfield, Trevor Loveys, Jamie Anderson, Rob Mello, John Tejada and Stefan Goldmann. On the labels front, Jesse also co-owns 'loungin' recordings' set up in the same year, as well as his newly formed solo imprint 'Made to Play'.
In addition to his own acclaimed productions with the massive 'A-sided' & 'You're All Over My Head' on Dubsided and his Content guise on simple, Jesse can also be found producing alongside Dave Taylor (Solid Groove/Switch) under the guises of Induceve with releases and remixes on Derrick Carter's Classic label, Peacefrog and more recently on the Dubsided imprint. Induceve highlights include "Jazz Chops", "Time To Begin" and 'Monolevel' on Classic and the "Pick It Up" EP on Dubsided. Jesse also regularly produces alongside Trevor Loveys as izit? for the Made To Play imprint.
Two thousand and seven looks set to be Jesse's best year yet with two long players (the Body Language compilation and his solo album), a world tour, his continued monthly label night at panorama bar, a quality line-up of releases on all of his labels and tons of new remixes and productions by Jesse himself about to be released.
