The Innocence Mission
The Innocence Mission The Innocence Mission began as friends who met during their Catholic high school's production of the musical Godspell. Since then they have released six critically acclaimed albums, including Glow (A&M 1995), Birds Of My Neighborhood (RCA 1999), Small Planes (What Are Records? 2001) and Befriended (Badman 2003), which was named #1 album of the year by NPR music critic Christian Bordal. Their distinctive sound revolves around the inspired musical (and literal) marriage of guitarist Don Peris and vocalist, pianist and song-writer Karen Peris. Karen, who has recorded and sung with Natalie Merchant, Joni Mitchell and Emmylou Harris, has been described as having "one of the most magical voices in music". (HARP Nov. 2003) Karen and Don are joined by bassist Mike Bitts.
