"Death Songs For The Living", the new album from Gob Iron, a collaboration between Jay Farrar and Anders Parker (Varnaline), will be released on October 31 through TransmitSound/Legacy. The album features very different takes on American folk standards. Also known as the "folk process," these include songs by the likes of Stephen Foster and The Reverend JM Gates which have been given new lyrics or new arrangements in an effort to re-interpret the songs.... more
