Brothers Donovan
Brothers Donovan Brothers Donovan (AKA dReAmSwell) is originally out of Short Beach, a neighborhood in Branford, CT. The band started out as a bunch of high school hockey players and friends calling themselves Half Step. They made their first demo tape in a garage in the summer of '99 before the world was supposed to end with Y2K. The band went from high school to college where they moved to Coventry, CT to set up shop in a house by the lake where they attended UConn and Eastern CT State University. During this stint they were the Wed. night house band at Ted's on UConn's campus for two years and became dReAmSwell while playing numerous venues, parties, spring weekends, and even road races across New England. The band made many new friends and fans as they worked the campus scene slowly but surely gathering "swell's angels" along the way. The capital letters R, A, and S are symbolizing the band's tribute to the Rastafari cultural movement. Also, the band is comprised of some northeast surfers who love to ride the dream swells that roll into the beaches of the northeast (especially around hurricane season). The dream of playing in a band and enlightening the ears of their listeners has always been prevalent! So, their hope is that the dream, with your help, will continue to swell and swell. The band has opened up for such names as RAQ, The Zen Tricksters, Vince Welnick (formerly of the Grateful Dead and the Tubes), Gent Treadly, and The Breakfast. Ken & Frank have recently been blessed with sit-ins in New Orleans and NYC with Billy Iuso & The Restless Natives including party sessions with Willie Green of the Neville Brothers and Russell Batiste of The Funky Meters/PBS. Brothers Donovan with help from dReAmSwell of course, do anything from acoustic solo act or duet to electric trio and beyond! Let it Swell...
