DJ Laird
DJ Laird DJ Laird grew up near Chicago, immersed in the vibe of the original house music scene, buying records and DJing warehouses and friends basements for renegade parties. In 1990 he moved to San Francisco, coincident with the explosion of the rave scene on the West Coast, immediately connecting with the underground. Since then he has played in every nightclub and for numerous warehouse parties and special events throughout the Bay Area, from Burning Man to MOMA, Funky Tekno Tribe to the Black and White Ball, as well as events around the country and throughout Europe, renowned for his slamming funky house and mental breakbeat sessions.

In 1995 Laird moved to Paris and began a weekly show on the Paris house music radio station FG 98.2. During his year long stay he played France's biggest clubs including Queen, the Rex Club, Folies Pigalle, and Le Palace. Laird headlined warehouse parties and clubs throughout Paris, along the Cote dAzur, and all over Europe including the massive Universe party in Munich, Germany. Laird was also the representative in France for Freshly Squeezed records (an affiliate of Strictly Rhythm), a label that showcased San Francisco artists Ra-Soul, Buck, Aquatherium, EFX, Digit, and Shawn Benson.

Since returning to the United States in 1996 Laird has been DJing prolifically, producing music, and founded the record label Golden Gate Recordings in 2000. Releases include the title track on OM Records' United Nations of Future Music and Golden Gate Recordings' Espace Cowgirl EP, Love Saves the Day, Worldwide, Warriors of Funk, and Cabaret Breaks, all collaborations with fellow San Francisco DJ/producers Laron and John Pickett. Laird and Laron are also the masterminds behind one of San Franciscos wildest parties PSYCHOFUNKODISCODELIC, renowned for the city's finest house, breakbeat, and psychedelic space funk. "We would like to say that if you have not seen Laird, and you like funk and cowboy hats, you CANNOT MISS this monster of funk!" DJ Lorin. Look for more releases and remixes in the near future.
