What happens when a naïve singer from California is promised a job working for his idol—the indie filmmaker Hal Hartley—three thousand miles away from home, in the great city of New York? What happens after he packs his bags, dumps his girlfriend, and crosses the nation only to be informed that an NYU intern has filled his job?
