Just when you think you've heard it all, Jimkata has emerged from the depths of the modern collective conscience to convince you otherwise. Members Evan Friedell (lead vocals/guitar), Aaron Gorsch (guitar/keys/vocals), Dave Rossi (bass/vocals) and Packy Lunn (drum kit/vocals) have set out to create a sound that is both new and timeless.
Described as "one of the best up-and-coming bands" by jambase.com, the music of Jimkata can best be described as electro-rock. Combining hair-raising rock and roll with an industrial touch of synthesizers, the sound has powerful momentum and their songs leave permanent impressions. While this four piece is inspired by the world of improvisational and progressive music, Jimkata focuses on song structure, textures, layers and vibrant lyrics.
After releasing their debut self-titled 5 track EP in the summer of 2007 Jimkata kept doing what they do best - playing explosive live shows up and down the East Coast to ever expanding crowds. Keeping up with their fans they released The Haunt Sampler Live in the spring of 2008. All of their hard work and explosive live performances have begun to turn the ears of new and old generations of music lovers and have gotten them onto such festivals in the summer of 2008 as Camp Bisco, Up North Festival and Starscape Festival. Jimkata has been fortunate enough to share the bill with such acts as Snoop Dogg, The Disco Biscuits, Bob Weir and Ratdog, The Wailers and Umphrey's McGee.
Hearts racing and music flowing after a successful summer and fall tour, Jimkata has returned to the studio to record their highly-anticipated debut studio album. Featuring 11 tracks of road-tested tunes and unheard material, this album seeks to present Jimkata's powerful live sound in a well-produced studio frame. While working hard in the studio to release their album in time for the summer festival season Jimkata is embarking on their biggest tour to date with stops in New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Buffalo among many others.
With all of this work on their plate there is no doubt that Jimkata is dedicated to one thing: moving and inspiring every set of ears they can reach, leaving fans feeling powerful and alive!
