The Botticellis The Botticellis singer/guitarist Alexi Lesterjett and drummer Zack Ehrlich have played in bands together since they were eight. Aside from nearly telepathic rapport, the bandmates (which also includes bassist/ keyboardist Ian Bjornstad and guitarist Burton Li) have keen ears for texture. For the group's recently completed eponymous debut EP the quartet added violin, double bass, and marimba to its standard pop line-up. Look for the Big Star influence in the group's airtight hooks and dark, cheeky lyrics, as when Lesterjett sings, "You got the look and you impress/ At least you're good at that, I guess," on "Killing Spree." If the Botticellis' substance and Built to Spill meets- the Left Banke sound doesn't woo ladies at Noise Pop, Bjornstad gets a second chance when he backs up headliner John Vanderslice that same night.
