Born in Eitel Hospital - Mpls, Minnesota. Studied violin at five years old. Next came the piano on and off for 2-3 years. Broke a Ukelele and two acoustic guitars until the Fender Mustang finally stuck in the 8th grade.
This followed by years and years of bands and solo gigs and open mic nights and plenty of campfires at festivals and dead tour.
Moved to Seattle in early 1990's was recruited by Sky Sunlight Saxon to play lead guitar in Wolf Moon. Co-headlined with Big Brother & the Holding Company and opened for national acts.
Formed Can-O'Bliss a classic rock & Dead/Phish/Allmans cover band that also did songs written by Bear. The band played around the Seattle Area and NW Coast before disbanding in the late 90's.
After a nearly lifelong battle with alcoholism and drug addiction finally ended Spring 2003, Bear's new gig is "Acoustic Honey" an eclectic mix of his originals and obscure covers.
Playing solo with a harmonica around the neck is a far cry from the electric guitar slinging freak of yesteryear but there is a honesty and raw spirit that can be captured this way like nowhere else.
