John Wasem Band
John Wasem Band With each day that passes, songwriter John Harlan Wasem has quickly become one of Chicago's most promising performers. Through his crafty songwriting and unyielding tour schedule (150 shows in 2006), Wasem is rapidly gaining the attention of thousands across the country and beyond. His music demonstrates the influence of legends, such as The Beatles and Bob Dylan, but still flows with an originality that stands out on its own. John’s percussive guitar work, powerful vocals, and energetic stage presence provides his audience with an energy that is universally welcomed.

2005/06 proved to be an exciting time for the Tennessee born songwriter. John teamed up with his good friend, drummer Mike Mirro (formerly of Umphrey’s McGee) and a number of other serious players to help bring some of his songs to life. Recording sessions with veteran producer Jim Reeves (Allman Brothers, Joe Cocker, ZZ Top) included the talents of such artists as pianist Joel Cummins (Umphrey’s McGee), bassist Matt Longbons (Ghettobillies) and lead guitarist Marcus Rezak (recent Berklee School of Music grad). “The Sparrow Four Sessions” were recorded live, with few exceptions, at Reeves Audio in Evanston, IL. The CD was released to a full house on January 6, 2007 at the Double Door in Chicago, IL.

John Wasem performs solo, as a duo (w/ various soloists) or as a 4, 5, and even 6 piece acoustic/electric rock band. John’s band is a conglomerate of rising stars, which can easily be put side by side with the best, both locally and nationally. The present line-up includes Matthew Longbons (bass), John Maloney (drums), Justin Powell (keys) and Marcus Rezak (electric guitar). Together, they have headlined such major Chicago venues as the Double Door, Martyrs’, Kinetic Playground, The Abbey Pub and many more clubs across the midwest. In addition, John has toured both coasts and has been a resident performer at the historic Wise Fools Pub for the past 3 years. John Wasem is currently working hard on a follow-up album, while extensive US and UK tours are being booked for 2007.
