The Incredible Heat Machine. The name says it all.
Shortly after their formation in January of 2005, these guys knew they had
a good thing going. Consisting of Keegan Pavlovic (bass), Rob Knugg
(keys), Ray Dunham (drums), Jeremy Pinell (guitar, vocals), and John
Turner (guitar), the Heat aims to please. Hailing from Murfreesboro, TN,
they excel in a live setting and pride themselves on originality. Their
influences are quite diverse (Pink Floyd, Rush, Frank Zappa, Steely Dan,
The Grateful Dead) and it can be very difficult for the average music
listener to pinpoint The Incredible Heat Machine’s sound. Some may say
that acts performing in the land of genre ambiguity will struggle to reach
a core audience. These guys disagree. The genre they’re going for is
good music. Whether it be rock, jazz, experimental, new age, or anything
else, fans of this group will testify to the fact that as long as the
music gets them out of their seats and onto the dance floor, no
specification is necessary.
The future holds bright things for The Incredible Heat Machine. After a
phenomenal response to their first full-length release in 2006, they will
be hitting the studio again to knock out their second album, which they
hope to have available in early 2008. In a town with 200+ bands and one
of the nation’s most prominent recording industry institutions (Middle
Tennessee State University), this group has become a premier attraction.
How, you ask? By bringing the heat, of course.
