The Giving Tree Band is Chicago's premier eco-friendly acoustic music group. Their songs are filled with passionate lyrics expressed with intricate four-part vocal harmonies and supported by creative arrangements on a variety of instruments. Using songwriting and performing as a vehicle for community service, the band's mission is to spread education on natural, healthy, and simple living and inspire a culture of sustainability and peace through music. The economically and ecologically sound decisions of the band include performing with instruments that were built from naturally fallen trees and recycled woods, duplicating their CD's in the most environmentally friendly way possible with wind power and recycled materials, and supporting numerous charities and eco-friendly organizations with their performances and recordings.
The Giving Tree Band has helped many non-profit organizations including Hand In Hand USA, World Vision, One: The Campaign To Make Poverty History, Co-op America, Global Exchange, Action Without Borders, Literacy Works, Illinois Renewable Energy Association, Illinois Environmental Council, Illinois Stewardship Alliance, Prairie Rivers Network, Tibetan Cultural Center, and Growing Home Farm, which provides training and employment opportunities in organic agriculture for homeless and low-income people in Chicago.
Their music can be heard on top radio stations in the Midwest and on Americana radio programs across the country including online and satellite radio. Recently, they performed live on WGN TV and were featured on NBC 5 TV in Chicago and also gave a concert at the Green Festival, the world's largest environmental exposition.
