Crowsong started off in 1997 with founder Randy Clark playing slide guitar with drummers Skooter Fein and Wade Peterson. Clark had just returned from India, where he studied Sarod. The first big show was opening for the Mermen at a legendary party in the Presidio, where Crowsong played on a busted pier sticking out of the water, with Clark blasting through Jim Thomas's Dual Showman's and no less than five drummers!
