Butch Walker's latest musical sojourn is with a new band called The Lets Go Out Tonites, who will release an album on July 11 via Powerballad/Epic Records.
"Lets get this straight... I am a solo artist, but I have a band," Walker writes on his MySpace page.
The glam rock-influenced The Rise & Fall Of Butch Walker And The Lets Go Out Tonites is his third solo release and follows 2004's Letters.
"My last record was the guy in the corner of the bar, crying in his beer because his girlfriend dumped him the night before," Walker told Billboard.com. "This record is the guy who walks in the bar, lights the girl's cigarette, then gets drunk and dances on top of the bar 'til 6 a.m."
The Lets Go Out Tonites are made up of Billionaire's Darren Dodd on drums, Michael Chislett and Randy Michael on guitar, and Wes Flowers on keyboards. A summer tour to support Rise & Fall is in the works.
Walker may be remembered as the lead singer from the now broken-up Marvelous 3, who had a 1999 hit with "Freak Of The Week." But he's also been an in-demand producer in recent years. He was involved with Pink's I'm Not Dead album as well as her rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Tell Me Something Good," which will be on the upcoming Happy Feet soundtrack. Pink returned the favour by contributing vocals to Rise & Fall's "Song Without A Chorus."
The list of acts that Walker has produced, mixed or written with also includes Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, Bowling For Soup, Sevendust, American Hi-Fi, and The Donnas. He recently finished working with Pete Yorn and will be kept busy with Hot Hot Heat and The All-American Rejects this summer.
