GANGA GIRI fuses the sound of the ancient Australian instrument the didjeridu with the technological sounds of today to create an uplifting dance music experience. Witness GANGA GIRI performing his renowned pumping percussive didj grooves and you will be drawn to reconsider the raw, deep power of natural sound. This accompanied with live dance beats, rhythms and samples provided by his band will have your limbs moving in no time.
A percussionist from the age of 8, Australian-born Ganga was influenced by African percussion, reggae, rap, North Indian Folk, Indigenous Australian music, and dance music of many genres. Inspired by a dream to play didj Ganga began his self-taught journey unknowing of what mastery he would achieve and of the "magic carpet ride" (as he calls it) through life that would follow.
A major highlight for Ganga was meeting the Yolngu people and paying respect to Arnhem Land (NT) from where the didjeridu originated. Despite the difference in cultural background, Ganga is respected by Aboriginal elders for his own unique style of didj playing. Ganga now tours extensively across Australia and overseas performing and teaching.
