Pioneers in the genres of funk, soul, and rock music, George Clinton and his legendary band Parliament-Funkadelic have enjoyed success in touring and on radio (thirteen Top Ten R&B hits, including six #1's) for over five decades. Both Clinton and P-Funk have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and are recognized as some of the most influential artists in music history, voted #56 on Rolling Stone's “100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”
Clinton and P-Funk released a series of critically-acclaimed albums between the late '60s and early '80s, producing such memorable hits as "Flashlight," "Aqua Boogie," and "Atomic Dog." The long-touring collective is noted for its live performances, which feature colorful, outlandish costumes and an unpredictable, party-flavored atmosphere. The band is ranked #6 on Spin Magazine’s list of 50 Greatest Bands of All Time.
George Clinton has been hailed as one of the most important innovators in the funk genre, and is one of the most sampled artists in music today. His influence can be felt in artists ranging from the Red Hot Chili Peppers (producing their 1985 album Freaky Styley) to hip-hop moguls like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, who sampled many of Clinton's beats. Clinton’s newest record, 2008's George Clinton and His Gangsters of Love, features appearances from Sly Stone, El DeBarge, Red Hot Chili Peppers, RZA, Carlos Santana, and gospel singer Kim Burrell.
