Hiding From Andy
Hiding From Andy Hiding From Andy is an all original band out of Warrington, Pa. The four-piece strives to create a joyful sound while melding improvisation within insightful folk-rock compositions.

Originally founded by Steve and Fady, the band was at first a hard rock group. After releasing only one album, 2002’s One Was A Salted, their then metal-inclined drummer found himself increasingly dissatisfied with the group’s musical direction. Ultimately he left the band, catalyzing the collapse of HFA.

Steve and Fady remained resolute. After several false starts, their long time friends Brad (drums) and Brandon (bass) joined the outfit. With the brothers constructing the rhythm section, the four, nearly life-long friends immediately set to work building a repertoire based on jamband principles.

With Fady on guitar and Steve on piano, their second release, Jelly Bean Joy (2005), was received well amongst the burgeoning jamband scene of Philadelphia. A year of continuously playing shows in support of the album concluded when the group met with an impasse: Brad, an anthropologist, announced he was leaving Hiding From Andy with a desire to play a more integral role in America’s environmental movement.

Practicing occasionally in the interim, the quartet finally regrouped after Brad’s definitive return home several years later (2008). Now with both Fady and Steve on guitars, the band has reworked much of its repertoire, adding a folk-rock, Americana sentiment to their new sound. Hiding From Andy is once again recording and playing shows, while striving to build a fan base within the independent music community.
