Low Frequency Shaman
Low Frequency Shaman Combining elements of ambient electronica, jazz, and rock n roll, the Low Frequency Shaman conjure a sound that is part improvisational and yet familiar. Subtle melodies guide the listener through musical landscapes where the terrain may seem recognizable, but the percussive rhythms keeps that feeling of anticipation of what my lie beyond. LFS, or the Shaman, as they are sometimes known, take a daring approach to music, “Each piece, each note is like a brush stroke on an artist’s canvas. You can paint a portrait many times over, but it will never be the same way twice.” states bassist Rob “red” Redmond. “We want to let the music find its own direction. We have arrangements, but those are the lines to give you the basic form. It’s ok to color outside the lines, sometimes you go way outside; sometimes you take a more conservative approach. You don’t know where you’ll go until you take that first step. That’s what makes it fun!” Indeed, the Low Frequency Shaman, draw inspiration not just from each other, but from the audience too. Guitarist Dave Berry and drummer Tim Tuthill agree that this is a situation that is unique and affords a level of creative freedom that is missing from much of today’s art. “We just get up there and play, man. I don’t know what’s gonna’ happen, I’m not sure any of us do…” Well spoken Tim.
