Since their formation in August of 2004, The Northwoods Band has been crafting it's own blend of musical styles to create something original. Thus far, the Winona, Minnesota-based quartet has stuck to performing their own material, fusing primarily rock, reggae, blues, jazz, trance, and soul.
Through their live performances (about 60 in the first year), an adequate presence on the Internet, and persistent free-CD handouts, the band has spawned a growing interest in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Connecting with many of the Midwest's premier live bands and playing festivals has brought them to venues like Madison's High Noon Saloon and the 2005 Campout Roots Festival and Gathering. The band, although playing a few shows, is currently busy recording and booking for 2006. The Northwoods Band looks forward to exposing their music to many more listeners in the Midwest and beyond.
The Northwoods Band has performed with The Big Wu, Fat Maw Rooney, Down Lo, God Johnson, Natty Nation, New Primatives, Wookiefoot, Hooch, T.U.G.G., Stealin Strings, The Smokin' Bandits, Joe Price, Banjer Dan, The White Iron Band, and many more.
They have also performed at The High Noon Saloon and Mr. Robert's in Madison; Linneman's, Up & Under Pub, and the Milwaukee Ale House in Milwaukee, WI; opened the 2005 Campout Roots Festival and Gathering; were featured guests on Two Fish Studio's Fat City Music Sampler radio show.
