Born beneath the Mississippi mud in Oxford, WILX emerged as rock band in June of 2005. Since their inception, WILX has focused their energy on pure rock n roll performances, combining powerful drumming, resonating bass, and two virtuoso guitars that trade riffs. WILX is first and foremost a rock band with alternative and grunge roots. These roots are soaked in southern styling, both classic and modern. Now residing in the musical vortex of Athens, GA, WILX’s live shows encompass a spirit of eclectic energy that stems from such a dynamic environment. In 2006 and 2007, WILX toured relentlessly, constantly writing new material while perfecting the original.
2008 encompasses a further evolution for WILX. The band has just completed recording their debut album, Didactic Dichotomy, with renowned producer John Keane (R.E.M., Widespread Panic, Nanci Griffith) at John Keane Studios, in Athens, Georgia. The album will be released in September 2008. WILX has performed with Perpetual Groove, North Mississippi Allstars, The Whigs, and Devon Allman, as well as a variety of other well-known national acts. WILX has played various local festivals, including the Poplar Street Music Festival and AthFest in Athens, GA, and the Elvis Festival in Tupelo, Mississippi. Look for WILX to be touring new regional markets in Fall 2008 behind the release of Didactic Dichotomy.
