The Funky Fritters are a powerhouse 11-member band w/The Funky Frittatas on Back-up vocals & The Red Beans Horn section. Serving up a bowl of Funky Gumbo and a Hearty Helpin' of New Orleans, Mardi Gras, blues, brass, rock, R&B, jazz and gospel.
Formerly known as Ma Skillet & The Funky Fritters and founded by Danny Drexler (Whooz Blues, Whisky River, Catfish John) in 2003, the Funky Fritters have continued to become a mainstay on the local music scene. The "All Star" line-up reunites Drexler with fellow Whooz Blues member Jay Gracin on guitar. They are joined by Isaac-Davy Aronson on lead vocals, Robert Gingery on bass (Visible From Space w/Judd Harris American Idol Finalist, Lou Volpe, Matthew Puckett), Craig Stewart on Drums (Marvin Sease) and Dan Nachimson on Keyboards (The Healers, Sweet Georgia Brown, Carlton J Smith)
Our Horn section includes Ryan resky on Trumpet, Bradley Madsen on Trombone and the incomparable Dave Mullen who, in addition to his own band Butta, has played with such notables as John Hicks, G Love & Special Sauce, Delfeayo Marsalis, P-Funk, The Brand New Heavies, Roy Ayers, Nile Rogers, The True fellowship Gospel Choir and the Groove Collective.
