  • Ruckus
    Ruckus
Galactic's new album Ruckus is a product of the rapid evolution of the band during the past several years. Working with renowned hip-hop producer, Dan "the Automator" Nakamura (Prince Paul, Gorillaz and Dr. Octagon), intensified the band's focus on songwriting. The final product of this perfect collaboration is Galactic's finest and most adventurous work to date. Ruckus pushes the band's creativity to the limit without diffusing the trademark Galactic groove.
  • We Love 'em Tonight (Live at Tipitina's)
We Love 'em Tonight (Live at Tipitina's)
New Orleans musicians have a long-standing tradition--no doubt brought on by the need to fill up that fourth set of the evening--of playing unlikely covers that end up transcending the original hits. The Meters did it with "Wichita Lineman." Irma Thomas did it with "Wind Beneath My Wings." And Galactic set out to do it on this live collection, peppering their homecoming concert with groove-laden covers torn from the songbooks of Duke Ellington ("Blue Pepper"), Allen Toussaint ("Working in a Coal Mine"), Chocolate Milk ("My Mind Is Hazy"), and even Black Sabbath ("Sweet Leaf").
  • Late for the Future
    Late for the Future
Galactic has always known how to serve up the old-school Crescent City funk in all of its rump-shaking glory, and every stop on their endless string of marathon shows only tightens them up another notch. Late for the Future, their third record, builds on their solid funk foundation and stands as their most ambitious, assertive, and sonically interesting work to date.
  • Crazyhorse Mongoose
    Crazyhorse Mongoose
Having cut their teeth on the funk battlegrounds in their adopted hometown of New Orleans, these boys have honed their funk-soul-jazz blend to a fine edge. Their Capricorn debut shows the band maturing and expanding as they move from playful stomps ("Hamps Hump") to smooth boogaloo (the title track) to smoldering soul-jazz ("Witch Doctor") to spacy wah-wah-driven forays ("Tighten Your Wig") to '70s-style R&B ("Start from Scratch") to filthy, back-alley slow jams ("Quiet Please").
