Karl Dietel
Karl Dietel Karl Dietel has made the move from cover band to national act to budding solo career. He recently released his debut cd, “Please Allow Me to Introduce Myself,” on which his melodic sense, attention to pop structure, and The Stranger-era Billy Joel influences are on full display. Born, raised, and currently living in Clinton, NJ, he honed his skills in local bands and became a sought-after player. One part classical lessons, one part music theory, (his liberal arts emphasis from Boston University) and the life experiences of playing 48 states over the last 10 years provides the spectrum of music Karl draws from when he plays. He has over 20 independent cd credits to his name, on keyboards, bass guitar, harmonica and as producer. He has recorded with Bernie Worrell (P-Funk) and Garth Hudson (The Band) and shared the stage with artists ranging from Brian Vander Ark (Verve Pipe) to Trey Anastasio (Phish). He is best known as the keyboard player for the road-warrior touring band The Samples, having spent the last six years in a bus while playing over 100 shows a year throughout the US.
